cant export vst with max 5?

hello

has the update to enable exporting vst with max 5 been released yet? is there any other way around this? i need to export as some sort of plugin and use in a sequencer…

I guess you have to rebuild it in Max 4.6… Hope the whole thing isn’t
too complex.

There is a SuperCollider based Max 5 to Max 4 converter somewhere out in
the wild I think…

Instead of exporting vst`s to use in a sequencer, could we get a s imple sequencer in Max?
Like the one in Reason or something?

Yes, why not? There are a lot done already I guess. This is typically
what you can easily do yourself. The level of ease and comfort depends
on what you need and envision of course, the advantage of creating it
yourself is the complete control you get…
I doubt that cycling would do it, unless as an example somewhere in an
examples folder… (search there to find inspiration, as well as with
the objects called seq, seq~, mtr…)

yeah, what I need is veery simple, I guess something to count down quarter notes or something to turn on/off stuff. I do not need midi automation and stuff like that, only need to make a very simple structure over 5 minutes or so ( 6 to 8 elements being started and stopped, mainly lasting around 16 to 32 bars or something ).

Would this be difficult to achieve?

I didn’t know you could export VST in any version of MAX/MSP. I thought it was all Pluggo stuff.

Does this mean that there might be the possibility of saving as a VST in the future of MAX 5 or am I reading things wrong.

Using the ITM features built in to max, this should be pretty easy.

Check out the transport object.

If you are on mac, just pipe audio out of your sequencer and into max then back to an audio track (to record) or aux track (to keep it live) using JackOSX.

or soundflower (the live situation is a little harder here, but you can easily route audio in and out of max using soundflower and record it. Use soundflowerbed to monitor what it is sounding like.

With jack you can set up a whole routing scheme between your sequencer and max while listening back as normal, and save it for future recall.

If you are on windows, I have heard that there is a windows version of jack in development. I think.

This is really interesting, indeed. For those of us trying to share our
work with our peers this would really help settle our schedules.

I don’t need a firm date – ballpark figures, really.
Something like:

“Q2, 2009″ would be tremendously satisfying.

From what I gathered the SDK was high priority, and that’s (nearly)
done now – so hopefully Pluggo or pluggo-replacement is next?

I’ve already had a couple of clients who’ve had to route midi notes and
clock back and forth between applications instead of just plopping in a
vst, I’m really looking forward to that not happening anymore!

i second that. used both jack and soundflower for this purpose with success.

but anxiously awaiting the max update too. first thing i wanted to patch in max5 was an lfo plugin for ableton (they should have had freely assignable lfo’s for ages…) but big was my disappointment when it turned out vst export isn t possible yet.
