can't see my icon!

Hi everyone,
I’m trying to associate an icon to my standalone patch but i just
can’t get it working. I’m following every step of the tutorial on the
max manual but i still can’t see the icon.
Here is a folder containing all the files (the patch, the info.plist,
the icon, the standalone itself, the script…).

Any idea?

ps: some stuff here, feedback welcome since i’ve got soooo much to
learn.

I find that the best way to see my icon is to first edit the
Info.plist to point towards the correct icon file, open the info
window on another app with an icon, select that icon in the top of
the window, command-C to copy it, then get info on my app, click on
the icon so it’s highlighted (it will still be the default icon), and
then command-V to paste the new icon onto it. Then, click the new
con again, and hit delete. Now the icon you set in the Info.plist
should show up. I think this has to do with the metadata that apple
cashes in a file somewhere, but I’ve been too lazy to investigate
further when this simple little trick works fine for me.

I find that I have to relaunch the Finder to see the icon. Open
Apple Menu/Force Quit, then select Finder, and click Relaunch. Now
your app will show your custom icon, assuming you’ve done everything
right…

hey… Just reading this thread… I’ve so far been unsuceessful in using the standalone builder to allocate my custom icon… Even trying the finder refresh etc.
Could someone please just post a quick example of how the text looks in the standalone builder?
Also, a method I’ve used to get my app onto a file is very simple… with the existing app icon hightlighted, left / ctrl click and choose ‘get info’ or apple+I, and do the same with the custom icon file. by clicking on the custom icon and copying, using apple + C, and then clicking on the standalone’s existing icon and pasting using apple + v does change the icon of the standalone to your custom one… HOWEVER I’m not at all sure if it saves the icon within the standalone, or references the icon… therefore possibly making it useless for sharing.
maybe worth investigating, as its a very easy way to go about it…
sorry if this turns out to be no help at all
tom
