After a while doing lots of stuff in MXJ, I have a sudden need to go
native. I’ve followed David’s example of getting an Xcode project off
the ground based on one of the sample projects in the UB SDK, and it
seems to work fine. So my questions are simple ones:

* Is David’s “don’t try to start from scratch” tutorial consistent
with Tim’s “let’s start from scratch” article? (I had problems with
Tim’s route when I tried it, but that was a while ago, and I
generally prefer bullding things from a clean slate.)

* What’s the current state of the meat-and-potatoes “Writing Max/MSP
Externals” document? Is there a more recent version than that for Max
4.5.5? (Xcode apart, does there need to be?)

* Is there documentation for the obex stuff? I’m sure I’ve seen some
somewhere, but a trawl through the C’74 site doesn’t seem to turn
anything up.

Most of what you need to know w/r/t obex, you’ll find in the pattr
SDK, which is part of the general SDK download.

Tim’s article is older and uses an earlier version of Xcode. I think
David’s method is the latest and greatest. Reading both taught me
enough about Xcode to customize a few things to my liking.

Coolio – that’s what I thought. David’s method seems to work fine
with Xcode 2.4 (which is what came with my MacBook Pro).

(Xcode is kind-of neat, but I still prefer THINK C.)

Ah, yes – got it – thanks. (By “general SDK download” I presume you
mean the 4.5.5 SDK I have here – which was one of my other questions.)

Looking forward to wallowing in pattrificated goodness…

I was seeking a bit for David’s mentioned tutorial, but I couldn’t find
it. Can someone send me a link?

Thx,
