I'm not fond of the use of a [coll] for such a small task, but i didn't find another simpler method for keeping the playing notes in memory, than this ugly coll / uzi / zl group ...

What do you have against coll for this purpose? It seems like you are trying to keep two pieces of information around: note order and note number. Coll is a pretty good fit for this. If you really hated coll, bag could probably be made to work.

I'm not sure this is much better, although it does get rid of the Uzi and seems clearer to me:
