Colors in Max 5

How is Max 5 translating the colours from Max 4?

In Max 4, objects set with default colours were saved with a colour number (0-15, I believe).

Max 5 translates these into colours that have no relation to the colour numbers in the Max 5 colour inspector.

(I colour code many of my objects – sends, for example, are always green. Now they are pink. I want to change the pink to green. How do I do that without selecting every single send and changing it by hand?)

For compatibility purpose you can still send the [color {int}] message
where the int is a number between 0 and 15. However it will use the
old default palette and this can’t be changed.

This is a specific cas that we couldn’t really handle because the real
color where not saved in the patch, but in the preference of the
application. I would suggest the following strategy:
- open your patch in Max 5
- use the “Object Defaults” in the Options menu to create a color
theme that you like
- select all the objects in your patch and use the “Set to Default
Values” command of the “Objects” menu.
- you might want to check the “Save Default-Valued Object Attributes”
option in the patcher inspector in order to make sure that the color
attributes will be in the patch, therefore, it will open with the same
color on an other computer which doesn’t have your color theme
installed.
