Compiling MaxFor Live Device
Dear all
Is it possible to compile MaxForLive to render not editable device?
You can freeze it, but there's currently no possibility for creating read-only devices.
Best, Jeremy
Ok Because I see for example Maxf or Live device from Ircam , They are read only. Maybe I must ask Ableton Team to know the way.
They're using naughty tricks to accomplish that. In any case, it's not officially supported at this time.
Naughty how exactly?
I don't mean "can you help me circumvent?" - rather, is their tomfoolery likely to cause performance issues or otherwise potential for trouble in such a complex system?
I mean, the vast majority of computer code extant is utter crud . . . hence the lifetime warranties and moneyback guarantees ;) - if they're doing something particularly risky I'd like to know about it.
Of course . . . this is coming from someone who recently posted a link to instructions on how to hack the Windows kernel to allow a larger Virtual Address Space on 32bit systems so . . . yeah. Naughty.
It's not as naughty as that, I suppose. And nothing risky in terms of life and limb, or overall system stability.
But you can certainly understand that I'm not really at liberty to discuss IRCAM's copy protection measures, so let's just leave it at that!
Best, Jeremy
Sure - that's fair enough. As I mentioned my interest isn't motivated by a desire to crack their protections.
Cheers!
