I have to control 3 Adtec Edje 1013 video servers from a computer via Ethernet, or RS232. Basically control a playlist, and synchronize the playing of several videos. 

Does someone have any experience doing it?.

Max/MSP can communicate with a serial interface and through a network. I believe it should feasable.
