I ran into something more complex than I would expect:

 steppermotor with max/msp by means of rs232 communication.

There is a small delay in the position-report from the motor (around 200ms). Animatics therefore recommend me to use their external library 'IntegMotorInterface.dll' (also called 'SMIEngine') for communicating with the motor. I can then use code like "CommInterface.GetResponseOf(RP)" which should reduce the report-lag to around 20ms.

The problem is that I have no knowledge about the use of libraries and this kind of communications whatsoever...

This library is described as a 'source code module library created as a software tool for the Windows Operating System environment'.

The SMIEngine is based on the Windows Component Object Model (COM) and works with:

LabView (when installed as an Active-X component)

My question is: how can I access this Library through Max/MSP?
