I'm attempting to get basic Peak-like copy/paste editing functionality with waveform~. I want to be able to select a portion of a buffer, copy it, then set the cursor to a new location/selection in the buffer and paste.

I've had a bit of success using index~ and poke~ (See patch below)but I'm running into a few issues:

1) Is there a way to write into a buffer faster than audio rate? For example, if I am copying a 8 sec set of samples from one part of the buffer to another, Do I have to wait 8 seconds for it to write to the new location?

2) poke~ seems to cause the waveform object to blink-> even when it's no longer writing. is there a way to make this stop?

3) Is it possible to copy/paste to a buffer without the dac~ being turned on?

4) Is there a simpler solution someone has already made in max/msp that makes for easy copy/paste editing with wavefiles?

peek~ can be used with audio off. But maybe it's slow...

there's [mxj Buf.op] which does this, I believe, plus a lot more. give it a try, not sure about speed differences.
