Hi. I am using a patch with the audio volume controlling the rate of speed a movie playback and it is killing my cpu. I’ve been using the internal sound card on a MacBook Pro – is it better for the cpu to use an external sound card? Or is rate a tricky parameter? Or is it better to give it simple values like on and off – 1 and 0 messages?
patch is attached – thanks for any suggestions.

The patch itself doesn’t seem too CPU-stressing on my late-2009 MBP (I tried with a bunch ov videos, HD too, and it stays between 20% and 45%). Maybe it’s related to the codec of your video?
hmm – i’ve tried a range of codecs – but consistently seem to have this issue – what is the best codec to use anyways?
Photojpeg @ 75% is a common choice.
are you using 32 or 64 bit Max?
