I've created a networked score patch that flashes the whole screen red to count in the next section. It was working fine on my older (13" laptop) but now on my 15" retina laptop (in hi-res "more space" mode) it lags really bad. It looks like the screen refresh rate drops to like 2fps or something terrible like that.

Is there a way to flash the whole screen (with translucency) and still retain a high fps?

Don't know if jitter or lcd allow for translucency, or if there's a smoother way to do it.
