I have designed a graphic score generator for Max. Before the patch appears I would like to have a logo/ title for the score appear for sa few seconds before the patch is visable. I have tried doing this with fpic and panels, but once I have dropped the alpha it gets in the way of the functionality. The fpic and panel needs to be on top of the patch to begin with the hide it. Is there another way?

It should be quite possible to imitate splash screen style behaviour using [thispatcher] scripting - ie create a frameless window and dispose it after a given time. In particular check the windowMessages subpatch in the thispatcher helpfile

Frameless windows can also have semi-transparency with [bgcolor] using an alpha less than 1.0. This could be your master patch which then loads the rest (using [pcontrol] after a delay.

You could also have just one master patch and make the window totally invisible (again, with alpha), load another one as the splash, then make the master one visible again.
