Creating a message box trigger from an event.

How do I go about creating a object that can take user input from a scripted event?

I.e. I bang a script and up pops a large box into which I can write a number which can then be used in a seperate equation. I understand that I could have a number box there at all times but it needs to be created on bang and deleted after input.

The deleting part I can do with the key object triggering another script but unfortunately I cant figure out what script command to put into sprintf as I dont have any C manuals that can help.

…I’m guessing it would have something the do with the sprintf object as I had a look at the sound flower example and saw that you could create buttons that way so surely creating an user interactive integer object wouldnt be much different?

if you dont like to use [dialog] for this, look into the
pdf reference about thispatcher scripts for putting objects
into foregound or background. (works with bpatchers too)

I would not create and delete the object, as you would need to connect
it also. Much easier is to hide/show an existing object. two message
boxes connected to a thispatcher one with "script hide myUIobject" and
the other with "script show myUIobject" bang them as you need…
