creating a standalone under Max5

June 27, 2008 | 10:27 am

Has someone already achieved a standalone under Max5 that works?
I could not find documentation about it with the documentation provided.

I’ve written a very simple standalone, and confirmed it’s worked on someone else’s machine. Are you running into some specific problem?

Still more questionsa about things that goes wrong on standalone in MAX5.

1.Anybody could take out the Max Menu option in File / when the object menubar is activated??

2. appicon doesn’t work.

3. Max windows doesnt dissapear, even with message to max,

;max maxinwmenu 0….

I ve seen and downloaded many standalones that ve solved this problems…so I still think is possible.

Thanks….

Should be fixed in 5.0.3.

It’s not needed. Just make your own icon using the OS.

That takes the status item out of the Window menu.

Just to be clear, the appicon command for standalone building isn’t needed on the Mac. However, it is still useful and should work just fine when building a standalone on Windows.

I meant at Windows XP. Build standalone gives the "no keyword appicon" message when buildin as collective as .exe
On mac everything works fine.

Still I can’t find the way to hide the Max Window on startup, and the Max Window CTRL-M (or Option-M), Clue Window items in Window Menu. (both on mac and win)

and another, /[key] in menubar editor, doesn’t work on windows, but it does on mac

I’m very thankful for your help.

add a standalone object to your patch. In the standalone object’s
inspector, uncheck "Status window visible at startup".

That’s strange. The appicon keyword works fine for me. Perhaps make sure you are using 5.0.3 and check your script to make sure you typed appicon correctly. If it still doesn’t work perhaps you can copy and paste your script (with the appicon keyword, etc) here.

Rob

As Emmanuel said, you just need to add a [standalone] object to your patch, and uncheck "Status window visible at startup" in its inspector.

One thing I’ve noticed is that if you using Windows and your patch has the nomenu flag, the Max window will still show at startup even if you have the above item unchecked. There is a workaround for this in this thread: http://cycling74.com/forums/topic.php?id=28709
