Hello everyone,

I’m fairly new to MaxMSP and Jitter, so this may sound a bit retarted.
I want to use my electronic drum computer (Roland TD-3) as a visuals creator.
I’m thinking of using particles, but I’m not sure what other options are out there.

So if anyone has a thought on creating beautiful visuals with Jitter (that can be triggered),
speak your mind!

Thanks!

Very general questions such as this don’t really get a lot of mileage on this forum, unfortunately. The range of possibilities is pretty crazy, so I’d spend some time getting used to some of the more basic visual effects before trying to figure out some more grand scheme.

Also, just by the way..particles aren’t the easiest thing for beginners I think. I’ve had minimal experience with them and I’ve been using jitter for 6 years..theres some ok example patches, but getting things to look really amazing takes a lot of work.

If you’re interested in a really rapid prototype with particles, definitely check out quartz composer (you can get it free with a download of xcode from apple). It can use MIDI from your drum machine to trigger different things that would happen with several particle systems.

I am familiar with Quartz Composer, and I will give it a shot!
Thanks for the reply, I’ll just keep exploring the possibilities.
