I've been trying to create some objects using javascript and include arguments as well. I have no problems with these:

this.patcher.newdefault(100, 200, "toggle", "@hidden", 1);

this.patcher.message("script", "newobject", "toggle", "@hidden", 1);

but if i change the "toggle" to something like a "pack" or "send" then it creates an object like this:

[pack int list 7 0.3 @hidden 1 @varname packitup]

So, my question is, can I use either of these methods to create an object and its arguments and then go on to specify some attributes afterwards in the same line of code without them being used as arguments too?

I can get around this by creating an object using newdefault and then sending the attributes as messages, I was just wondering if it was possible to do everything I want in one step.

I know that using the .message("script") above you can use "@text" like in a message to [thispatcher] but how do I format it so that it works? Something to do with escaping the quotation marks perhaps?

I'd be very grateful for any hints or pointers.
