Dedicate noteout to one logic pro track

February 19, 2014 | 12:56 pm

Hi! I think that I’m looking for a very simple thing, but I can’t figure it out.

I play midi notes in Max, that go into logic pro. What I want is to dedicate these notes to one of my tracks in logic. Even when I select another track, I would like them to be played by the instrument I want and not the selected one.

I tried to set a channel in the "noteout" object and to set the same to the midi in channel of my track in logic but this doesn’t work.

Maybe the issue is in logic but as I’m not sure I ask here…?

It’s an issue with Logic. If you only want to play (not record) the midi data in Logic you could bypass the sequencer, ie. in the environment connect the input port where midi is received directly to the instrument.

Wow, I’ve just spent half an hour to execute what you told me but it works fine ! Thank You !

So recording midi data needs the sequencer if I understand ?

Yes, but I think more details should be discussed on the Logic forums.
