Delay bug?

Delay bug?

I believe I’ve found a possible bug and am just wondering if anyone else is experiencing similar problems. The ‘delay’ object simply doesn’t work. I’m sure you’re all familiar with the delay object but just to clear my name, all I’m doing as a test is trying to set off a bang 1000 ms after sending the object an initial bang, so :-
Bang connected to input of ‘delay 1000′, output connected to another Bang.

I happened to notice another user (post title: Possible Bugs) having problems with XP but there’s nothing else in search I don’t think.

I’ve looked at the tutorials and the ‘delay’ object isn’t working in the tutorial patch or the help patch. ‘delay~’ is working in the help patch however. I’m currently running Max/MSP 4.6.2 on my Mac Pro with OSX 4.8 if that helps (?!).

Devil’s Advocate: do you know the difference between pipe and delay?

did you take note that the delay object only stores one bang at a time? so if send [delay 1000] a bang every 900 ms it will never bang.

Embarrassingly a quick restart fixed it. It was just an odd little glitch it would appear. I was using the object within it’s capabilities certainly and it’s now doing what it should be doing… Thanks for going to the trouble of showing me examples. I’ll try and reciprocate once I get a good handle on things!
