Delaying Transition with Xfade

March 30, 2010 | 9:16 pm

I am making an installation in Jitter. Max is reading from Arduino values between 0 and 1. If the person goes by the sensor, the Xfade object gets a value of one. If there is no one in front of the sensor, there is a constant value of 0. When the x-fade gets the value of one, an 8 second video plays. Therefore, i have to create a delay function that keeps the video playing after the xfade is triggered. The problem that i am running into, is that the objects i am using, such as Pipe and Delay, produce delays for the 0 and the 1. I only want the delay when the number switches from 1 to 0 and not from 0 to 1. How can i make this happen?
thank you,

check [togedge] for quick zero-to-1 (and vice versa) transition detection. has separate outputs for each transition. let me know if this sorts you out….

Billy, thanks a lot. It worked beautifully! I took the [togedge] object, hooked up two bangs to it, and threw a [delay] object on the bang that emits the 0, Worked perfectly. Thanks again.
