delta bangs

Hi all,

I’m trying to have a piano triggered by an accelerometer xyz data.
I have 4 piano algorithms to be triggered (eg: one creates melody, one only one note, etc..) and I’d like them to be activated depending on the delta of the arm movement. The more you shake, the more you get ;-)
The problems I kinda resolved (see patch):
1) if I have the biggest shake, no smaller shakes occur
2) whenever i have whichever shake, the relative gate closes for 1 second – so there’s not too much sound all at once.

being my patch very far from elegant, every suggestion is welcommed. :)
But I’m mainly looking for a way to send those bangs not only from “x” data, and/or “y” data alone: but the two combined. I’d need some help on how to detect the “overall” delta of a shake whenever that movement is more than a value. I’m not a master in math formulas, and i think here I need one…
any help would be graeatly appretiated. thanks!

PS as i finish this long post I suddenly realize something as simple as an avarage between x and y could work…
could it be a way? anyway, here’s my patch
