detonate doesn't work

I try to record the output from my midi-channel 1. I connected everything in the right place. Now when i push record, then stop, then write and then i open the detonate patch, there is no midi-information. What do I do wrong? (i put for this question a random number generator, normally it gets its numbers from the internet)
And an additional question; how can I record 4 channels simultaneously in detonate?

I had a look somewhere saying they would be no [detonate] in Max 5.
Could someone confirm ?

We dropped the editing window in the detonate object in Max 5, but
detonate playing/recording (…) features will still be available.
