I'm working with a data transmitter that is outputting values for an object as it moves around a circle. The values begin at 5 and descend to -5 around one half of the circle, and the numbers start rising back up (-4, -3, -2) until it meets the 5 back at the beginning.

In other words, each number appears twice throughout the circle.

My question is: Is there any way I could use max to assign each position in the circle it's own unique value? I realize that on one side of the circle, the number 3 is preceded by the number 4, while on the other side it is preceded by the number 2. I've got a patch here that effectively determines the direction of a stream of numbers...I just can't figure out how to fit it into this situation.

My goal is to have my transmitter move around it's circle, and to receive an ascending list of unique values to each position in the circle (which would restart when the circle completed and began again.)
