DIstance Sensors and Video need HELP!!!!

May 3, 2006 | 3:26 am

My research partner and i have dived in to not only Max MSP but Teleo as well. Through are research of this topic and the use of the Makingthings site we have been able to Get the distance measuring sensors to work, for the introductory block. However getting them under control with the use of the Multi IO Block has become the brick wall that we have hit. I cannot get them under control within the flash actionscript that we have. An any time that I have tried to put together a patch in Max Msp that I believe might work the patch cords literaly disappear before i can get a better understanding of what they do.

I have the Basic, Basic understanding of the Max environment and cannot understand why this is happening not to mention will I still need Max?

The project that we have set up is to have four distance sensors when trigered goto and play at random a different SWF file using Flash 8 Professional. Which works at limited capacity with the "Teleo intro module". It was my understanding that i would be able to better control this with Max. However i am very much lost and confused. We are also doing this with no prior experience or tutialage, because we were up for the challenge that are professor proposed last semester.

Attached are some of the patches were the cords dissapear befor i can even beta test them.

This I don’t believe… unless you use hidden cords, but then you would
expect them to "disapear"…

How do you "put together a patch in Max Msp" without having Max?

You might be able to finish your project with the demo including running
through the tutorials which is absolutely unavoidable and will get you
not only going, but answers question faster than asking the list…

Attachments don’t work in the forum, you need to paste them into the
mail body as text.

stephen please, dont attach patches, you can’t here.
please just post the patch as a text in the email to the list.
or send the patch as attachment but , for example, to a personal
address, not to the list .

about your problem
I dont know actually what is the Multi IO block that you are using,
and why the patch cords disappeared.
i usually use distance sensors with my interface so i can tell u my
experience.
just think that, if u are a bit confused,
the communication path is possibly the following:
teleo talk to max
max talk to flash.

if u like to send the patch to me
i can watch to it
