double-click selection is English-centric

Hello!

Something like a small rant/huge improvement proposal/bug description: double-clicking any text in Max stops at accentuated characters! For instance:

1) make a new comment box

2) pick your favourite civilised language and write a word with an accent (durée for instance)

3) double click on it to edit/change/whatever

4) voilà! (Hey, here is a word often used even in English with an accent ;-)

Is it possible to fix this please?

Hello Pierre Alexandre Tremblay,

i care too ; the accent segregation annoys me ; “- ça me gonfle !” ; f.e. when i code in C using french i always have to care to choose NoAccentFrenchWord. Fortunately I am not Greek Russian or Chinese ;-)

I, too, would welcome a modern, polyglot-aware double-click word-selection algorithm. My French is only mediocre, but I do have the need to write in German from time to time, and anyone who knows me will not be surprised that I have had Greek, Czech, and Japanese crop up.

Given the development history of Max, I’m a little surprised that this wasn’t sorted out back in early IRCAM days.

I think this bug was introduced in max5, I can’t reproduce on max4.6.
