Is there really a way, in max, to get an matrix-image following mouse pointer when doing a drag ‘n drop action from one pwindow to another, like with a finder to dropfile-object action.
I really don’t see how .

if you want to drag/drop an image or movie from one pwindow to another, you need to use the mouse output from the pwindow to detect where you start and end. here’s a really simple example that could get you started. if you want to drag from finder to the pwindow, just put the dropfile region over the pwindow.
I’ve done a lot of this type of thing, and just be warned that if you go down this road, you will spend a lot of time developing your app, not creating with your app. If you are programming this for someone else, then that is all great, but if it’s for your own use, you may want to think of a different process that may be less slick, but takes less programming time.

I wasn’t thinking about cocoa apps at all. If you can do the dropzone stuff,
now about mouse stuff, and you’ve got the filename of the loaded film, then
you could use those bits to make something that might do the trick.

well, that’s kinda true, but if you really want to do that (i hope you have a really good reason!), you can fake a jit.window by putting a pwindow and dropfile in a patch, and formatting/sizing the window appropriately with commands to thispatcher and the pwindow.
