I was trying out the Max6 SDK and to double check that a problem I was having was my fault and not an SDK bug (it was) I wanted to try the same external in Max5, but encountered a symbol not found error for _dsp_add64 loading the mxo. I was able to fix this by adding the following weak method declaration:

void dsp_add64(t_object *chain, t_object *x, t_perfroutine64 f, long flags, void *userparam) __attribute__((weak));

So if you are someone at Cycling74 who works on the SDK, here is a bug report for at least the 

 example (I haven't checked other audio examples), and if you are someone using the SDK right now, don't forget about this.

the preferred method is to do it this way:

object_method(dsp64, gensym("dsp_add64"), x, myExternal_perform64, 0, NULL);

in sdk 6.0.4 it seems only simplemsp~ is using this strategy.

Are you sure? I just spot checked dspstress~, pictmeter~, and split~. They are all using object_method calls.

You're right, sorry, simplemsp~ is not the only one.

but it seems times~, lores~ and index~ do not call object_method
