Edirol Video Presenter
Hi Jitter Forum!
I have been a MAX fan and Cycling74 fan for a long time. I am a musician and film-maker that would like to trigger video clips to multiple projectors via MIDI notes. I have looked at the Edirol Video Presentors that do this very well, but they are expensive. For example, for two projectors/2 screen presentations, about $10,000 or 2 Video presentors @ $5,000 each.
Wouldn’t this be an easy thing for Jitter and Max to do? Yet much cheaper. (For the cost of 2 laptops and jitter) I would like to be able to use 720X480 video or better. Ideally, 1080i quality. triggered via a sequencer. It would have to be frame acurate.
Please advise me if there is anyone in the forum that is doing a similar set-up
sure, very possible to do.
how difficult it can be depends mostly on what you mean by "frame-
Thanks for your reply, it’s nice to hear from across the water. I thought it would be nice to do this with Jitter and Max. I would need it to be frame accurate because some of the video will be synced to the music (such as a vocalist singing with himself on stage with the video) if latency is consistent than the lag could be programed in. What do you think?
It’s easily possible to get trigger latency of video down to < 8ms in
jitter by ‘pre rolling’ the first few frames to ram (or the whole clip if
you like. Triggering a loaded clip from a drive is typically 8-16ms
depending on the drive. below 8ms is a fairly imperceptable delay.
one suggestion on ‘lip syncing’ is to give your performer a video monitor,
and let him do compensation in ‘realtime’ :) — it’s probally a good idea
no matter what the latency is.
