Via search i've read a few posts here on touchscreens and am now considering buying an Elo 1515L with intellitouch technology. Apparently this screen is pressure sensitive and i was wondering what i would be using to read the input and more specifically the pressure information from the screen?

I assume if you get the screen with the HID you should be able to use the hi object in Max. With the keyboard emulation I assume you would just get key commands through the key object.

as the tech spec say:

thanks for the reply but i believe the MSR is a "magnetic strip reader"

I'm not concerned whether it will be able to emulate a mouse input, more with how to read out the z-axis.

the digitised data of this MSR will surely be passed on via usb. It does not mention any other connections, the mentioned serial output is there because a lot of micro computers are still available with that and it seems that this screen is being produced specifically for the control of screen based applications/kiosks.

I obviously cannot say for sure what data you'll get, as I had not worked with it, nevertheless it states the HID standart, so the pressure should be available as a data stream through USB.

I'm buying through a mass dealer. The official dealer is much more knowledgeable but more expensive. This company obviously has a lot of stock to get rid of:
