Entering specific value into cascade

September 8, 2013 | 8:57 am

I’m trying to enter specific frequency, amp and Q values for multiple poles in the cascade object but I can’t figure out what message I should send.

Trying to do it using the filter graph, but no luck. I can only seem to directly control the first filter pole. I think it might be possible by doing lists (I believe they are in groups of 5 numbers, each from -1. to 1. but I couldn’t figure out exactly what each value represented).

Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

Anyone? Still struggling with this. Cascade is confusing but I don’t want to use 5 bi-quads.

it seems as if you would be helped by using either [filtergraph~] or [filterdesign]. look at the "integration" tab of the [filterdesign] helpfile or the "nfilters" and "cascade~" tabs of the [filtergraph~] helpfile. there are plenty of utilities in Max these days to help with high order biquad filtering, including an excellent ‘vignette’ entry in the manual. personally i would use [filterdesign] for your situation – it is so effortless and awesome. [filterdetail] and [plot~] if you need to visualise.
