December 27, 2012 | 5:54 pm

im new to max and I’m trying to load a folder into a umenu using a textbutton connected to a folder with the pathname. however its not appearing in the umenu and the max window says its ‘not a folder’ which it is, does anyone know how to make this error go away.

thanks. thats very much like what i have only instead of prepend prefix ive got a folder object where you can type the pathname so as to find the folder automatically without having to go into a directory. iv included example. at the moment the opendialogue is allowing me to find the folder successfully and load it up in my actual patch. but id love to just press load folder and have it output the information from the folder object. I think maybe Its something to do with relative and absolute pathways. i dont know im still looking into it.

You have an extra space between the quote and the period – " ./Radio Cello/Cello Audio/" should be "./Radio Cello/Cello Audio/" .

and maybe you’ll have to activate autopopulate too in the umenu.
