How can one tell live.object to "ctrl-solo" so as to unsolo any soloed channels and only solo the selected channel?

You could just unsolo _all_ channels and then solo the selected one.

so there's no quick way about it. I'd need to get the list of track ids and set the solo to 0 on each individually
