Faster Serial Reading?

Is there a way to read the serial port using the serial object faster than every 22.73 ms [or 44Hz] (fastest speed of metro, I believe)? Is there a way to get a faster than 44 Hz metro? Here’s a repost of an example of metro’s slow-ness.

Reduce your signal vector size, put the scheduler in overdrive and in audio interrupt.
