Feature request: get info on 'patcher background' -> abstraction paths

Hi,

When I choose ‘get info’ without selection in a patcher I get the list of externals and abstractions in the patch. The paths to the externals are displayed, which is a very useful feature and saved me a lot of time in the past.

Currently I’m having a nasty problem with an abstraction that is no longer found from the moment I open a help file from a custom search path (appended with [filepath]). Btw, if someone recognizes this problem, any info would be welcome!

Feature request: to see what’s happening it would be great if ‘get info’ without selection also shows the paths of the currently loaded abstractions.

Thanks,
Mattijs

This works for me on OSX, 10.4.8, Max/MSP 4.6.2 on a MacBook Pro. I
get information like this:

Externals/Patchers used in Untitled:
Patcher /Cycling ’74/externals_thirdparty/vs_objects/vs.taps~ (in
Untitled)
External tapin~ (in [vs.taps~]) at Cycling ’74/externals/tapin~.mxo
External tapout~ (in [vs.taps~]) at Cycling ’74/externals/tapout~.mxo
External *~ (in [vs.taps~]) at Cycling ’74/externals/times~.mxo
External +~ (in [vs.taps~]) at Cycling ’74/externals/plus~.mxo
Patcher /Cycling ’74/externals_thirdparty/vs_objects/vs.bypass.ramp~
(in [vs.taps~])
External line~ (in [[vs.bypass.ramp~]]) at Cycling ’74/externals/
line~.mxo
Patcher /Cycling ’74/externals_thirdparty/vs_objects/vs.bypass.ramp~
(in [vs.taps~])
Patcher /Cycling ’74/externals_thirdparty/vs_objects/vs.sigmix~ (in
[vs.taps~])
External zmap (in [[vs.sigmix~]]) at Cycling ’74/externals/zmap.mxo
Patcher /Cycling ’74/externals_thirdparty/vs_objects/vs.sigmix~ (in
[vs.taps~])

The above shows paths to abstractions inside other abstractions, too.

Maybe I’m misunderstanding your request. Is this what you’re meaning?

Hi Vlad,

It’s true, this is what I mean… I tested on mac today and you are right, it works on mac. But on pc it didn’t! Or did it? This seems so strange that I actually start doubting myself. I’ll check again on pc (hopefully this evening), but I clearly remember not to see file paths behind the abstractions.

I just checked it out on a PC… and you’re right, it is different.
Abstractions are listed like this:

Patcher burstmaker~ (in Untitled)
Patcher aliasline~ (in [burstmaker~])

The path information for abstractions that is listed in Max/MSP under
OSX is missing in the PC version.

Ok! Thanks for checking and confirming, Vlad! Cycling 74, do you concur?

Thanks,
