Feature request: knowing poly~'s number of voices within loaded patcher (trough thispoly~)

October 19, 2009 | 10:38 am

Dear Uncle ’74,

I have many patches using poly~. I often change the number of voices according to circumstances (computer processing power, other patches open) and I divide the output level according to the number of voices within the patcher loaded by poly~. To achieve this I have to set a common switch to set both the number of voices in the poly~ objet (with the "voices" message) and to set the divider (using a send/receive connection).

However this would be much easier if thispoly~ had an additional outlet for this purpose, telling the current number of voices.

The multiplication could be done outside poly~. Saves a bit of cpu as well.

I usually create that outlet myself, and send poly~ a busymap message. A [zl len] at that outlet will give me the number of voices…
