feel like a n00b again: presentation mode Q:

June 12, 2008 | 10:27 pm

hey,

is there a simple way of making subpatcher UI objects appear in
Presentation mode?

Staying with the Reaktor thought, "sub-interface objects" in Reaktor
appear with a small frame around them indicating the hierarchy.

Right now the only way I can see it working is by send/receive pairs
from the parent patch… but that kind of negates the idea of
presentation mode, doesn’t it?

I think that you add the patcher object, open the
subpatcher window, Choose the Patcher Inspector
and set the Open in Presentation Mode attribute.

Did you try that?

This is already a FAQ, but thinking about it, maybe there would be a way
to get new users around it better:

One possibility:
A Max preference which would allow to set that attribute in a given
patcher automatically in the moment you assign the first object to
presentation mode…
In addition, if the first time you do that, a little pop-up will ask
whether to set this preference, or if you would like to do it by hand in
the inspector. A little check box "don’t ask again" checked already…

Other possibility:
Whenever you assign the first object to presentation mode, it will ask
on save if you want that attribute to be set or not with a check box
"don’t ask again"…

That way everybody will learn by doing…

Stefan

yes, I did try that, but that sets a default action to perform every
time you open the patcher (whether it opens in presentation mode or
not), it doesn’t make a multislider inside [p test] show up in the
parent presentation mode, unfortunately.

This would make designing modular units a lot easier for me, so I am
still hoping to find a solution somewhere.
