fft~ analysis

May 4, 2011 | 8:55 pm

I’m stuck on the following problem. I would like to use the fft data collected from the audio input (microphone) of my MacBook. I’m using adc~ to get the input signal and fft~ to split the signal into its single frequencies. So far it’s no big deal.

The output of the fft object is an audio signal as well and I don’t know how to get at the individual values of the fft analysis. I want to use the values of particular frequencies for visualisation.

I searched this forum with no success. Perhaps it’s a stupid question but I would appreciate any help.

Thanks in advance,

record the analysis into a buffer~ object (well, two buffers actually, one for the real component and one for imaginary). then use peek~ to get the information into max land or index~ to keep it in audio land.
Also have a look at MSP tut 26.

Thank you for your fast reply. I use record~ to save the data into the buffer~ object and with peak~ I can pick single frequencies out of the buffer list. Here’s the patch if anyone is interested.

thanx a lot!

this helped me get close to use the FFT~ object .
