I am trying to read out the fft~ analysis into vectors (say with 128 entries for a 128 sample fft-analysis ) so I could use them in a Java External.

The chain: Audio from play or sfplay into fft~ --> steady output from fft~ as a vector --> feed this vector in a Java External --> process it in the external --> output from the external

At the moment, the Java stuff should work. The problem is to bring the vectors out of the fft~.

Is anyone having an idea how I could solve the problem? The capture~ doesn't look like the solution, or is it? Or is there another object to use for the fft-analysis?

I found a way using ftm~ from IRCAM to make the fft-vectors I was looking for. But now, I can only use ftm.print to read out this vector. This prints it in the Max console, entry after entry (this would be perfect for me).

So the question is another one: how can I read messages that are send to the Max console inside a Java external?

Or even better: is there a way to convert this ftm vector to a list, which I could use as an input for my Java external.
