Hi list,
Is there a way to update the file preferences without
relaunch max ?

thank you

They’re text files, and the format of them is hopefully pretty obvious. I would imagine there are all sorts of ways of modifying them without having to fire up MaxMSP.

You might want to take a look at the filepath object.

You maybe missunderstood the question, its about creating new folders
within the searchpath while patching (in the finder), which is VERY common.
There is no way to tell max to rebuild the search path to include them.
I requested that more than once (last time last year in august), maybe
now it will be listened to…???
I can’t imagine that its difficult to implement this, but then, I also
can’t imagine that this doesn’t bother the developers of Max as well
(and then they would have fixed it long ago…)

Lucky for you we are working on a much better solution, but you’re not
going to see it until Max 5.

Cheers,
