I'm looking for a Max external that read and save audio file in FLAC file format ( 

I just would be sure that it doesn't exist before start writing it in C.

i don't know about any readymade externals, but

on osx one easy solution is to call the flac command-line prog with

i don't know about any readymade externals, but
on osx one easy solution is to call the flac command-line prog with  
the [shell] object.
this works quite nicely.
i guess there is something similar on win.
then again, this might not be the answer you were looking for.
