It’s a large program with many patches, or I’d upload it here.

In Max 5, it plays at between 29 and 32 fps.
In Max 6, without revision, it plays between 39 and 42 fps.
Note that this is not just a straight “play forward”, but each frame jumps through the file between frames (in the test case, I’m jumping about 100 frames forward and backward during playback).
Macbook Pro 17″, 2.8 Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo processor, 8 BM 1067 MHz DDR3 memory.
Codec: Apple ProRes 422 LT

The video I’m testing has some added white noise in Max 6, I’m looking into that now.
