FSAA fractional alpha work around?

October 12, 2007 | 4:27 am

Greetings folks

Luke Dubois was up here at Brown last weekend and showed a workaround for the apple FSAA fractional alpha channel problem ( as in @erase_color 0 0 0 0.2)

I didn’t get it down as it went by as I was thinking about something else –

I wonder if any one has a patch that does this

something like rendering ones GL info to a texture and then putting that texture on a slab and than applying a blur or something????

hmmmm – well that’s why I am asking –

this is discussed in the list topic here:

but I am trying to figure it out just now and not really getting it…
anyone figure this out?
thanks

jamie

There are plenty of render to texture examples floating on the list

methods are

to_texture
@capture
draw messages with sketch- and then sketch with @capture

Andrew and Wes have posted to the official Recipies page on C74 on
how to do this, and myself and others have also posted render to
texture effects.

For simulating erase color with a low alpha channel, you can also use
a subtractive feedback system with jit.gl.slab . This is what ive
been doing when I use FSAA, and you can have lots of fun by putting
effects only in the feedback portion, like a simple gaussian blur,
wobble, or the like.
