ftm gabor 1.09 'your vowels'

April 29, 2008 | 7:17 am

Hi,
I’m running through the ircam, ftm, gabor tutorials and I’ve hit a bump on the road to true greatness. I’m on the last tutorial, 1.09 "Your Vowels". I’m assuming the idea is to loop an .aif file and be able to see peaks, the waveform, spectrogram, etc. The problem is I can’t even hear the sound, yet alone get a visual representation.

Has anyone worked with the tutorial?
I feel like it’s some simple problem that I’m having. If someone else can try it, succeed, and tell me ‘yup, it’s just you’, I’d really appreciate it.

Hi,

Let me pull this on the FTM mailing-list…

In fact, there was a bug in the patch in the FTM & Co release < 2.4.3
that has been fixed since.
I am not sure if this is your problem, but if, it’s easy to fix:
You simply have to replace the "gbr.fire~ 100 (new fmat 1024 0)" by
"gbr.fire~ 100 (new fmat 1024 1)" in the top right part of the patch
below "fundamental frequency".

Hope its that’s it. Usually the patch should work as soon as you give
it sound input.

Best
Norbert

That was the problem exactly!

Thanks a lot Norbert!
