in the next few weeks i want to start to deal with realtime fulldome projections. has anybody already some experience with that kind of stuff, and maybe some hints for maths ressources, objects or shaders to have a quick start?

thanks

Depends what kind of a dome you are talking about.

We just had a premiere as part of the grand opening of the Taubman arts
museum in Roanoke, VA. In the exhibit I worked on one of the backwards
projected translucent domes. Been meaning to send out an announcement about
this, just haven’t gotten around to it…

Thanks ico for the link. Tyler thank you very much, that webpage is really great. it really helped me a lot to get on going. and i was also missing the notion of spherical projection before.
i want to construct with 2 friends a dome as one part of a site specific art installation in public space in march / april 2009. we also attended very recently a one day fulldome workshop at zeiss in jena, and there is a fulldome festival in jena / germany 24./25.April 2009, where you can send short films up to 5 minutes and take part in a competition. i think there are 3 small prices and one extra price if you deal somehow with the topic “Bauhaus in den Sternen”. they have a bad homepage from 2008, i think further informations will follow: http://www.fulldome-festival.de/

as soon as i have first results / pictures / patches, i will let keep you updated.

best
