My program needs to send a command-line command to lilypond (as in, don't load the actual program). I've been working with various tools, including Bill Orcutt's Shell object, but I can't seem to get it to work. What I don't understand is why the command should work in the terminal and not through the object.

Thoughts? This is a subject that seems to have come up quite a bit in the past, but I still couldn't get it to work.

max is very sensitive to quotes and the like.

it might be better to create a shell script of that command and just execute the shell script from max.

otherwise you have to escape all your quotes and special characters (sometime double escape them).

Yeah, that seems like the best solution, and not too much extra processing time. But I've also discovered that single quotations work in some situations, including paths for bash, so I might experiment with those too.
