hi there,
I just read carefully the first pages of SDK docs.

I’m using win7 64bits OS.

I’d like to know several things:
- what could be the benefits of using Cygwin instead of Visual Studio Express ?
- is there a blank template project for Visual Studio in order to help me to begin to code my “Hello SDK!” project ? (maybe I could alter delay2 for instance, but I wanted to be sure)
- is there a way for me to produce .mxo for osx (cross platform dev from my win7 64bits) ?

btw, I intend to code some audio external to experiment further my discovery :)

all infos would be greatly appreciated :)

best,

Hi Julien.

- AFAIK, no real benefit in using Cygwin, but if you are used to the Unix command line it could be a more straightforward choice. I always use VS express, and it works just fine.

- in the SDK you have plenty of example projects. Just open one of them, they are ready-to-compile. As your first step, I’d choose plussz – delay2 is a quite advanced example.

- There is no way to produce an osx external under windows. You need to compile it on a mac. That said, if you have access to both OSs the thing is extremely simple, as far as you stick to the C standard library and the Max API.

Good luck!

Hi Andrea,
thanks a lot for your feedback.
I don’t have any osx at home (even if I already tested OSX inside virtualbox on my windows 7)

ok for cygwin/VS

about the SDK, yes indeed, there are a lot of examples.
But I just wanted to make my own new VS project, to set up my PATH etc, more for learning purposes.
Thanks: I’m going to dive in plussz.

Best,
