getting the total number of poly~ voices from inside one of those voices ?

hey,
is there a way to get the total number of voices a poly~ object has created, from inside one of those voices ? can be useful for eg timings etc. Usually it’s fixed i know, but sometimes you jsut want to change it… and beeing able to not have to rewrite that number everywher it has to be rewrited would be nice!
Cheers

Hi
do you want to dynamically vary the number of voices, and then access that number? The argument you send to the [voices $1] message is your answer. If that number is fixed, and you want to pass it around inside poly, then do this:

– Pasted Max Patch, click to expand. –

If you want to access this outside your poly, then try sending the [peak] outlet to an additional outlet and see what comes out.

Hi,
In this case the number of voices is not really varying dynamically. The [peak] object is a cool trick ! i was thinking of something like it, but did not kow of [peak] so it makes things easier :)
thanks !
