I'm really hoping that I can find a way to pull this off. My project involves converting a matrix to DMX, and I love using OpenGL objects over the regular ones. The problem is getting OpenGL to the matrix.

I've read numerous post about this problem. In the past, people had been using jit.gl.asyncread, but problems with it emerged in a recent version of Max. The use of drawto was recommended by one person, so I decided on it.

Drawto worked in my main project until I attempted to add a jit.gl.sketch object to the mix. That object could not render in the same context as video planes, neither would render.

So, I did what I do when things won't work in a large patch, I made a simple one to test with. Doing this helped me realize that there are critical differences in the was renderings go to a window than a matrix. In the case of this patch, oddly, the alpha channel going in is treated as solid zeros, even though it shows up as 255s in a cellblock. The alpha channel is actually a gradient! This is wrong on many levels, and having no way to reliably debug it, other than random trial and error, I find myself completely lost.

I would love to see a working example of layered videoplanes (with alpha) and OpenGL sketch (with alpha) playing nicely together. Can it be done? Has anyone done it?
