Grab and read objects problem

March 24, 2008 | 10:47 pm

Hi there

a couple of student’s computers that downloaded max msp seems to not have
the grab object, and the read message is not working.
Is this possible that they were not installed? Otherwise the computers might
have disabled the webcam and the videos use for security reasons. Please let
me know to start planning to to fix this.

Thanks,

daniela

Make sure they have jitter (and the correct version of jitter for that matter) installed as well as quicktime. The other thing I don’t understand is that jit.qt.grab uses the "open" message, not "read" like jit.qt.movie". If that was just a typo forgive me but that would definitely be a problem if they were trying to use Read instead of open. Which kind of webcams/computers are they using?

Hi

Hi there, no I am only using mac Intel, and both of the messages do not
work, neither the read on of the videos nor the open for the jit.grab, also
the Jit.window is gone.

we did the entire installation, should we make them again? We do have
quicktime.

Any clues?

Thanks,

Daniela

It honestly sounds like jitter wasn’t installed properly (or at all). When you start the program does the first line of the Max message window say "Jitter 1.6.3 installed"? Which version of Jitter appears in the Max window?
