Granular Video Sound Problem

Hey,

I am working on a patch for granular videosynthesis installation and am approaching problems with sound.
I use the frame $1 message with the jit.qt.movie object to move through the video, which works nicely for the granular video effect but i only hear small grains and pieces of sound most of the the time i hear anything at all. When i play back the video with the start message everything sounds fine. I could make something similar like what is happening in this patch with a play~ object for the sound, but i thought maybe somebody knows a easier solution. Any ideas to fix this?

Thanks a lot in advance,

Cheers,

Moritz

This is really cool,  I’ve been thinking a lot about granular video myself but haven’t had a clue on how to approach it. I think you are probably going to need to use a seperate set of objects for granular audio though.

Okay i solved the problem! There is a object called spigot~ with which you can grab the audio track of the qt movie and  output it via msp. Now everything sounds fine beside some strange sound stuttering artifacts in the background, but this maybe is just the crappy onboard soundcard on my laptop. I hope i can post a nice granular video patch in the forum in a few days.

@Commathe: Glad you like :)

Cheers
