Graphical 2D MIDI interface

Hey. Wondering if any of you MAX gurus out there know of a way of graphically mapping MIDI information on a screen. Have a geez at the pic attached
I know leafcutter John has something similar with forrester here

There are a few objects I can think of looking at:

Mousestate – determine mouse position

LCD to get mouse position – (i am having a lot of trouble reading a pict in though not sure why/can’t do it)

Screensize (there is a nice example in the reference of MIDIfying mouse position)

Suckah – you could use this to get colour codes from an image or what ever suckah is overlayed on top of.

I am not a Guru but I hope it helps :)

Have a look at Andrew Benson’s nodes object. You should be able to use it come up with a solution, unless you absolutely need the circles to look like they do in your post.
